THE STORY
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
At the heart of the public botanical garden of the Ropes Mansion — a Georgian house on Essex Street in Salem, listed on the National Register of Historic Places — stands an old sundial with this timeless verse. Its words echo Henry van Dyke's sundial poem: time and seasons pass, but love remains.
We recreated its face in detail, then gave it the soft blue-green verdigris of aged bronze, so it looks as if it has stood in a New England garden for a hundred years.
